Travel Time: Ludhiana to Gurudwara Ber Sahib, Sultanpur Lodhi via Phillaur-Phagwara-Jalandhar-Kapurthala by Car

We started our journey from Ati Chowk, Ludhiana at 9:30 am by private car.

At 10:00 am we reached Phillaur.

(Phillaur, there is a road route to reach Gurudwara Ber Sahib, Sultanpur Lodhi via Nakodar>Malsian but cousin’s brother’s friend decided to drive via Phagwara >Jalandhar>Kapurthala)

At 10:15 am we reached Phagwara.

10:30 am Jalandhar.

11:00 am we stop at Param Sweet (Amritsar road Chungi, Kapurthala) for Samosa & Tea.

(Rs. 10 Samosa/Rs. 15 Samosa with Chole and Tea – Rs. 10)

11:30 am we cross Kapurthala city.

12 Noon we reached Gurudwara Ber Sahib, Sultanpur Lodhi.

Ati Chowk, Ludhiana to Gurudwara Ber Sahib, Sultanpur Lodhi via Phillaur>Phagwara>Jalandhar>Kapurthala travel time by road via private car: 2 hours 30 minutes including a refreshment break.

If we had followed Google Maps directions i.e, Ati Chowk, Ludhiana>Phillaur>Nakodar>Malsian>Gurudwara Ber Sahib, Sultanpur Lodhi, we maybe have saved approx. 30 minutes.

Anyway, the highway road condition from Ludhiana via Phillaur>Phagwara>Jalandhar>Kapurthala till Gurudwara Ber Sahib, Sultanpur Lodhi is excellent and traffic was also minimum. And there were no Toll Plazas.

My cousin’s brother enhanced my knowledge that since Kisan Andolan, Toll Plazas in the entire Punjab are closed.

Thoroughly enjoyed the road journey by private car. Thanks to my cousin’s brother and his friend.

Review: Rara/Rarra Chicken – Aman Chicken’s Signature Dish

I was touring Ludhiana in Punjab. Can’t think of missing a few delicious dishes, especially chicken of Punjab cuisine.

Aman Chicken or Baba Chicken – One of the best chicken brands in Ludhiana, having more than 3,500 Google reviews.

Not too far from the location, I was staying.

I had my cousin’s brother’s (from Ludhiana) opinion about both restaurants and he suggested – up to you.

Aman Chicken/Baba Chicken are both the most famous, must stop for non-veg food lovers in Ludhiana specially Ludhianvis.

I decided to visit Aman Chicken (since 1985) for lunch at Jagjit Nagar, Near Shastri Nagar, Railway Crossing.

The ambiance is basic but air-conditioned, neat, and clean.

The menu – Butter Chicken, Masala Chicken, Rarra Chicken, Cream Chicken, Keema Chicken, Palak Chicken, Methi Chicken, Kali Mirch Chicken, Chicken Curry, New Lemon Chicken (white gravy), Old Lemon Chicken (Rarra Gravy), etc.

One of the must-visit restaurants for sure in Ludhiana having varieties of signature chicken dishes.

There were fish, meat, biryani (chicken/mutton), and veg. main course too but I was adamant about having chicken.

Chicken Curry is my favorite but still, I requested the waiter to guide me about the best signature chicken dish available.

Rara Chicken – He replied.

Half Rara Chicken (Rs. 380), four Chapatis (Rs. 17 each), Salad (Rs. 50), and Mineral Water (Rs. 30) – I placed the order.

Quick service. Preparation looks rich & good. Thank you – said I.

When I had the first bite, it was all about the tender, fantabulous, delicious flavor of the chicken.

Rara Chicken’s premium taste was awesome. In short – finger smacking. Ultimate. Fabulous.

Total Bill: Rs. 554 including CGST/SGST.

A little bit pricey but the Rara Chicken is finger-licking good. It’s different.

I had an excellent experience visiting Aman Chicken.

Anyone traveling to Ludhiana must try Rara Chicken at least once at Aman Chicken. Recommendable.

Aman Chicken – Great for lunch or dinner with family too. A landmark eatery in Ludhiana.

Even if you’re a food connoisseur, and wanna try out some authentic culinary excellence, you should visit Aman Chicken.

Timings: 10 am – 12 Night.

Aman Chicken is also having one more – The oldest shop near Karimpura Bazar in Ludhiana.

But one question – What is Rara/Rarra Chicken?

I requested the person present at the cash counter to enhance my knowledge.

Tandoori Chicken along with specially prepared gravy when roasted one more time inside tandoor, is known as Rara Chicken. And it is not dry. The special ingredients formula to prepare Rara Chicken is especially known to only one chef.

A secret.

Lachcha Paratha is recommended best with Rara Chicken.

Wonderful information shared. Knowledge enhanced. Thank you – said I.

Sweet Bengal – My Favourite Sweet Shop in Mumbai Suburban

Sweet Bengal from the house of Specialty Restaurants LTD.- My first choice for festivals/occasions, when I get a sweet craving. I consider them at par with authentic Bengali sweets. I am a huge fan of their sweets. Not sure, if it is my family’s favorite sweet outlet or not but I find almost all sweets – palatable.

As per my experience – heavenly/salivating/yummylicious/delectable taste in sweets and the tempting texture is perfect.

Perhaps one of the best Bengali sweets chains in Mumbai city. In other words – a one-stop-shop for all Bengali sweets.

Even though kinda pricey, compared to other sweet shops in Mumbai Suburban, the taste/quality offered is perfect/addictive.

I recently on the occasion of the Deepawali – festival of lights, visited an outlet and requested:

Kala Jamun (3 pcs. – Rs 28 each), Kheer Kodom (3 pcs. – Rs. 35 each), Dilkhush Sandesh (3 pcs. – Rs. 38 each), and Abar Khabo Sondesh (3 pcs. – Rs. 36 each).

I would recommend Sweet Bengal – Heavenly Sweets to have at least once if you love excellent, quality, premium Bengali sweets. Worth a visit. Click to know more.

How much Washing a Motorcycle Cost in Mumbai Suburban?

bike wash near me – Google search and come across a few articles about Express Bike Works (EBW) – One Stop Eco-Friendly Motorcycle Care founded in early 2013 – a brand of Entropy Innovations, an engineering innovations company.

EBW machines are the country’s first fastest 2-minute automated motorcycle wash system capable of washing even the dirtiest of motorcycles within 5 minutes, which is the fastest in the world.

A proud made-in-India venture.

They say – conventional wash (local/roadside garage) takes 50-60 liters of water while EBW takes 10 liters only and 90% of the water is recycled to reuse.

And EBW motorcycle washing cost?

Just Rs. 50/60 – Rs. 150.

In general, I had to spend approx. an hour at a local/roadside garage for motorcycle wash. I was in need of something better for my Royal Enfield Thunderbird Twinspark 350cc motorcycle. So why not try EBW.

They say – water pressure is optimized between 400 to 600 PSI to avoid causing any kind of damage to the motorcycle.

EBW machine is basically a kiosk that can take in motorcycles of any size.

Park the motorbike inside the kiosk, come out, shut the door, and click a button to get the washing done via biodegradable detergents.

EBW is running successfully in Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, Nashik, Bengaluru, Dhanbad, Coimbatore, Guntur, Hyderabad, and Hubli. And new upcoming stores in Kochi, Mumbai-West, Bhubaneshwar, Nagpur, Surat, Vijaywada, and Mysore.

Apart from India, EBW is also in Nepal, Indonesia, Thailand, Rwanda, and Colombia.

All these above reads convinced me and I decided to visit its first franchisee outlet at their COCO Sahar village petrol pump in Mumbai (nearest to my location). But before visiting, I called the petrol pump and the reply – service to the dialed number is temporarily withdrawn/the number you have dialed is invalid.

Even the Express Bike Works Facebook page had a contact number and a website link – both not working.

Disappointed.

Anyway, after driving for 8 km approx., I reached COCO Sahar village petrol pump.

Another disappointment was waiting.

Though EBW machine – the kiosk was there but closed way back as told by a petrol pump employee.

Anyway, finally back to the square, I visited the local motorcycle washing garage at road no. 8 near Sahara Studios, Goregaon West.

First, the motorbike was cleaned with pressure pipe water. Then a little degreaser was added to the shampoo inside a spray bottle. A pressure pipe was attached to a spray bottle and shampoo+degreaser mixture was sprinkled all over the motorbike. A cloth was used to rub the motorbike for a few minutes and then again pressure pipe water for cleaning.

Total time for motorbike washing – 18 minutes.

And the washing motorcycle cost in Mumbai Suburban?

Rs. 150 only/-

A suggestion: all local/roadside washing garages should use recycling methods to reuse the water instead of wasting it.

Earlier, I remember diesel was used to clean motorcycles but I was told that degreaser mixed with shampoo is better.

Anyway, the wish to have Express Bike Works (EBW) 2-minute automated motorcycle wash system remained unfulfilled. Maybe someday at Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) – another nearest after Sahar village.

Pandit Ji Di Hatti (Since 1950/24 Hours) – One Stop for Parantha Lovers

My Ludhiana‘s cousin’s brother suggested having parantha for dinner at Pandit Ji Di Hatti at Feroze Gandhi Market (almost like Nehru Place of Delhi), Opposite Hotel Park Plaza.

He further enhanced knowledge that their oldest restaurant is at Chaura Bazar started in the year 1950 by Shri Ram Nath Sharma Pandit Ji. Their Feroze Gandhi Market restaurant is 4 years old.

Pandit Ji De Pranthe is a landmark in Ludhiana for the best authentic Punjabi paranthas.

I agree and we reached Pandit Ji De Pranthe (Pandit Ji Di Hatti) at Feroze Gandhi Market.

The moment you enter the air-conditioned fine dining restaurant, the walls are nicely framed with food quotes such as:

THE ONLY THING I LIKE BETTER THAN TALKING ABOUT FOOD IS EATING – JOHN WALTERS

COOKING WITH LOVE PROVIDES FOOD FOR THE SOUL.

IF WE’RE NOT MEANT TO HAVE MIDNIGHT SNACKS, WHY IS THERE A LIGHT IN THE FRIDGE?

I just don’t want to look back and think “I could’ve eaten that.”

TODAY’S MENU – EAT IT OR GO HUNGRY.

Appreciated – a thought.

They have a good comfortable sitting arrangement with a decent ambiance.

The menu was served. It’s a pure vegetarian restaurant.

Though there are Mocktail, Soups, Continental, Tandoori Snacks, Noodles, Chinese, Lunch & Dinner, Rice, Salad, Raita, Breads, Desserts, Thali & Mini Thali mentioned in the Menu but I looked at the Paranthe section.

Two types of Paranthe are available.

  1. Pandit Ji De Paranthe – Paneer Gobhi Aloo Pyaz Mix Parantha, Aloo Pyaz Parantha, Gobhi Pyaz Parantha, Paneer Pyaz Parantha, Khastha Parantha & Gobhi Parantha
  2. Tandoori Paranthe – Mix Parantha, Aloo Pyaz Parantha, Paneer Pyaz Parantha, Kasmeri Parantha, Lachha Parantha, Mirchi Parantha & Lal Mirchi Parantha

We opt for Pandit Ji De Paranthe – Aloo Pyaz Parantha & Gobhi Pyaz Parantha (Rs. 60 each).

And Verka Makhan (Rs. 20 butter), Curd (Rs. 25), and Torque’s JAL Natural Mineral Water (Rs. 30).

Have to say – Curd was not required. Paranthas with Butter was sumptuous & awesome.

Crispy with stuffy filling. Finger licking taste.

A nice outlet for parantha lovers. Well maintained with quick service.

Overall fantastic experience. Thanks to my cousin brother. Amount paid.

Timings (Feroze Gandhi Market restaurant): 7 am till 4 am

Timings (Chaura Bazar restaurant): 24 hours

7 days open.

Great place to have authentic Punjabi Paranthas loaded with butter, especially during the late-night hours.

Pandit Ji Di Hatti is an awesome restaurant. Recommended at least once for sure.

Clean Shave & Head Massage in Ludhiana – How much I Paid?

Hollywood Hair Salon (air-conditioned) at Janta Nagar, Ati Road, Ludhiana, Punjab.

Clean Shave – Rs. 40 with Gillette Shaving Foam and Rs. 30 with Brooks Shaving Foam.

I opt for Gillette Shaving Foam for a clean shave. Gillette Shaving Foam is a personal favorite.

After the clean shave I most of the time love to have – Head Massage.

And the rate – Rs. 80 for Head Massage with Navratna Oil – Thanda Thanda Cool Cool.

Head Massage includes shoulder, arms, and back massage as well.

Most of the salons in India use floating action body massagers but I prefer massage via barber hands.

Cost is the same no matter whether you opt for a floating action body massager or barber hands.

Finally, happy with the clean shave and massage as well.

Rs. 120 – Total Amount paid.

Lassi Chowk – Best & inexpensive Place to Have Traditional Drink

Punjabis and sweet/Heavenly Lassi are synonymous. Served chilled, it’s probably the best way to cool down in summer.

Lassi is a refreshing Punjabi sweet traditional drink made out of curd, mixed with sugar, a little water, and cream as a topping.

Bittu Lassi Wala, Ludhiana (Punjab) is a 40-year-old small outlet, famous for Lassi, Curd, Pure Ghee, Butter, Cream, and khoya.

I with my cousin’s brother reached Bittu Lassi Wala situated at Lassi Chowk, Karimpura Bazar, Ludhiana.

Yes, I have a sweet tooth.

Sweet lassi starting from Rs 20 and Rs. 30 glass – The display board talking.

We requested two Rs. 20 glasses of sweet lassi.

The service was quite quick. Served in a disposable glass (200ml.) with a topping of thick cream.

I had one glass and I was full. It was so creamy. Lassi was neither too thick nor too thin – perfectly balanced.

Great Quality & Texture, Superb Taste, Awesome Essence, Yummilicious, Mind-Blowing, Rejuvenating Lassi.

A perfect blend of curd, sugar, and a little water.

And the price – very correct. Rs. 20 only/-.

Inexpensive and the best place to have sweet lassi. Great feast – it was.

Bittu Lassi Wala – One of the best Sweet Lassi shops at Lassi Chowk, Karimpura Bazar, Ludhiana, Punjab.

Timings: 6:30 am till 9:30 pm (7 days open)

Lassi Chowk is well-known, and popular among locals of Ludhiana.

If you love desi, and traditional beverages, you should try sweet lassi at not-so-fancy – Bittu Lassi Wala at least once.

Note: Visit this Lassi outlet with an empty stomach as lassi is quite heavy as it is a meal in itself.

I think a visit to Ludhiana or you can say Punjab cannot be complete without having Sweet Lassi.

Nothing Found?
