Padri Ki Haveli – Oldest Place of Christian Worship in Bihar
The credit for being the oldest place of Christian worship in Bihar goes to the Roman Catholic Church, Padri Ki Haveli, located in the Khajekalan area of Patna City. This church facing south is 74 feet long, 40 feet wide, and 50 feet high. Its interior is in Corinthian style. This magnificent church with high Ionic pillars was designed by Sinyor Tirreto, a Venetian architect, and was built between 1772 and 1779 during the tenure of Reverend Father Joseph of Roveto.
The huge bell called ‘Maria’, which is still rung to call people to service, was once in the church’s bell tower. Bahadur Shah, son of King Prithvi Narayan of Nepal, gifted it to the church in 1782. The first Christian missionary to live in Patna was Father Simon Figuerdo, who lived here in 1620. Medical Mission Sisters from the USA opened the Holy Family Hospital here in 1939. Nobel laureate and Saint Mother Teresa stayed at this hospital for three months in 1948 to receive basic medical training.
R. K. Lassi (Patna) – A 56-Year-Old Hidden Gem
R. K. Lassi (Patna) – The best place to have Lassi – The traditional drink.
Lassi is a refreshing Punjabi sweet traditional drink made from curd mixed with sugar, a little water, and cream as a topping.
Served chilled, it’s probably the best way to cool down in summer. The rich malai (cream) on top of Lassi is heavenly.
R. K. Lassi is a 56-year-old outlet in Patna famous for Lassi, Milkshakes, Chaas, Curd, Paneer, Makhan, and Tilkut.
I reached R. K. Lassi in Kadam Kuan in Patna with a friend.
Yes, I have a sweet tooth.
We requested two glasses of lassi. One with sugar and one without sugar as a friend is a diabetic.
The service was quite quick. Served in a glass with a topping of thick cream.
The taste of the Lassi was very good, aptly sweet, topped with malai & freshly prepared.
I had one glass and I was full. It was so creamy.
Lassi was neither too thick nor too thin – perfectly balanced. Great Quality & Texture, Superb Taste, Awesome Essence, Yummilicious, Mind-Blowing, Rejuvenating Lassi. A perfect blend of curd, sugar, and a little water. The extra cream at the top of the Lassi is favorite part.
And the price – Rs. 35 per glass only/-. Inexpensive and the best place to have sweet lassi. Great feast – it was.
I will say that R. K. Lassi is one of the best Sweet Lassi shops in Patna.
R. K. Lassi is well-known, and popular among locals of Patna. If you love desi and traditional beverages, you should try sweet lassi at not-so-fancy – R. K. Lassi at least once.
Note: Visit this Lassi outlet with an empty stomach as Lassi is quite heavy as it is a meal in itself. Worth the money.
A question: Will I return?
Definitely!
There are a lot of Lassi shops and stalls in Patna but if you wanna try one of the best Lassi then this is a must-visit spot for you. It’s on the roadside so it’s easy to locate.
R. K. Lassi was established in the year 1968 by Late Lakhi Babu.
R. K. is Raj Kishore son of Late Lakhi Babu.
Timings: 11 am till 12 midnight.
Recommended place to visit if you are in Patna (Bihar).
This place is the best place to have no-nonsense Lassi. The taste of Lassi was excellent and the quantity which they give in one glass was something which we cannot finish in one go. Overall very tasty and ample in quantity.
In short, I can say it is one of the best Lassi I have ever tried. Very refreshing and tasty! The Lassi tasted delicious and one can consider it as a meal.

Shree Vrindavan Sweets & Chaat (Patna) – Where I had the Best Jalebi & Puri-Sabzi
Shree Vrindavan Sweets & Chaat (Patna) where I had the best Jalebi & Puri-Sabzi.
It was delicious. Unmatched taste of the traditional Bihari breakfast.
Although they serve a wide variety of sweets too, their breakfast is a must-try.
It is the popular joint for breakfast in Dak Bunglow Road. The location is very convenient.
Just 50 meters from Exhibition Road Chauraha towards Dak Bunglow Chauraha.
I will recommend visiting this place early in the morning for a sumptuous breakfast before one starts a day in Patna.
Pure, Hygienic, Tasty, Yummy, and Lip-Licking.
Has sufficient parking space for two-wheelers.
One of the best places for having breakfast in Patna.
Hot Puri-Sabzi and Sweet Jalebi will make your day for sure. And the cost is pocket-friendly.
Rs. 8 Puri-Sabzi, Rs 12 stuffed Puri-Sabzi and Jalebi Rs. 200 per kg.
A quite small place but the sweets & snacks are very tasty. Great place to treat yourself. Overcrowded most of the time.
You can take away your order. We take it and enjoy the delicious Jalebi & Puri-Sabzi at our place.
A very old shop in Patna. Good food at a very low price to fill your empty stomach. It offers proper hygiene and is clean.
A place where one loves to go again & again. Authentic shop, with friendly staff. They have a good reputation. It is very popular among the people.
Whenever in Patna I will visit Shree Vrindavan Sweets & Chaat again and again. 100% satisfaction. I would recommend it. 10 out of 10.
Review: AC Waiting Lounge at Tatanagar Jn. Railway Station
AC Waiting Lounge at Tatanagar Jn. Railway Station is on Platform No. 1.
I reached Tatanagar Jn. Railway Station from Saraikela to travel via SOUTH BIHAR EXP (13287) to Patna Jn.
As the train was hours late I decided to avail the services of the AC Waiting Lounge.
I was requested to submit the train ticket PNR (Passenger Name Record) number.
Upon query, details of the AC Waiting Lounge were shared as follows:
15 & 45 rupees charges per person per hour.
By paying 15 rupees per hour you may sit on a business class sofa.
By paying 45 rupees per hour you may relax on a sofa-cum-sleeping set.
There is a family room also for which one has to pay Rs. 150 per hour.
I opt for the 15 rupees per hour option.
After entering the AC Waiting Lounge I saw 4 Voltas air-conditioned installed making the waiting hall super cool.
There were 24 business-class sofa sets and 12 sofa-cum-sleeping sets.
There was a massage chair also and the charge to avail the services was Rs. 100 for a 15-minute massage.
An electronic board outside the AC Waiting Lounge displays the train running status.
Free Wi-Fi was also available.
Other than the above said facilities there is a small outlet outside the AC Waiting Lounge where packed foods & drinks are available on M.R.P.
I had a cup of hot coffee.
In short, I found the AC Waiting Lounge comfortable – the best for resting & relaxing, safe, less crowded, cool, clean, and excellent for waiting before catching the train for individual destinations.
The toilet I did not use. Can’t say about its cleanliness but the hygienic washroom was mentioned on the facilities list.
The AC Waiting Lounge experience was amazing. I loved the idea of having an AC waiting lounge at a railway station.
In short: Affordable prices, hygiene, and cleanliness at par, all under one roof – open 24×7. It’s worth all the money.
Any bona fide railway passenger with a PNR or Aadhaar Card can rest at the AC Waiting Lounge.
These lounges enhanced passenger’s rail travel experience. A hidden gem.
A great initiative by the railways. Thank you Indian Railways.

About: Sri Sri Bhimkhanda (Bheem’s Stove)
॥ Sri Sri Bhimkhanda ॥
This stove-like structure made on the rock to the north of “Sri Sri Pandaveshwar Mahadev” situated at Bhimkhanda ancient tourist spot is called “Sri Sri Bhimkhanda”. Its literal meaning is: “Bheem‘s stove”. In the local language ‘khanda’ means: ‘stove made for cooking feast.’ To its north, marks of spreading rice water can be seen. It is believed that the food material and food dishes of the royal feast organized on the occasion of the ‘Bheem-Hidimba marriage’ were cooked by Bhim himself on this stove. People of the Asur community participated in the said ceremony and enjoyed the feast. On the day of Makar Sankranti, people cross this stove and pray to make their lives sinless and successful.
