Vegetarian Thali at Ashutosh (MTV Roadies Winner) ka Dhaba

Vegetarian Thali at Ashutosh (MTV Roadies Winner) ka Dhaba

During my earlier visit to Saharanpur, I had less time, but this time I had time, and I wanted to visit Ashutosh ka Dhaba as he is a well-known person from Saharanpur (Uttar Pradesh) who won two major reality shows – MTV Roadies 5 and Bigg Boss 2.

I was very much interested in having lunch at his dhaba. Besides lunch, what I like the most about the dhaba is the simplicity maintained.

Ashutosh was not present, but yes, I requested one of the dhaba employees to serve whatever he could serve best as lunch.

Urad Chane ki Dal, Besan ke Pakode, Salad, and Roti prepared on a wooden chulha were served. The taste of Urad Chane ki Dal was excellent, reminding homemade food prepared by my mother, and another best was Puff Roti. While writing, I remember the delicious taste of Urad Chane ki Dal. Fantastic.

I have to say that if you are visiting Saharanpur, you should visit Ashutosh ka Dhaba, near Khumran Pul, Chetna Market in Saharanpur.

And how much does thali cost?

Rs. 40/- only.

Chamrara Devi Temple – Goddess Sati’s Right Foot fell Here

Surinder – a friend and I started the journey by Royal Enfield Thunderbird Twinspark motorbike from Rishikesh at 10:10 morning hours. After covering 47.5 km, we stop to take a left turn.

The time is 11:50 am and we are approx. 20 km before Devprayag.

A left turn towards Link Road is the way towards Chamrara Devi temple situated at Chamrara Village. We left National Highway 58 and drove on a single road having almost nil traffic. Road condition is good.

7.5 km more driving and I have to stop the motorbike. Further road condition is not good. Repair work is going on. We decided to walk on foot. One km approx. walking, we reached Chamrara Devi temple. The time was 12:45 noon.

Swami Keshav Uttarakhandi – The temple priest was present. Upon the query about The History of Chamrara Devi Temple, he narrated via chalk and slate because last 11 years he has been in Maun Vrat.

Chamrara Devi temple is situated at Chamrara Village, Devprayag tehsil in Tehri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand at a height of 1567 meters above sea level.

As per Shiv Puran, Devi Bhagwat, Kedarkhand Goddess Sati‘s right foot fell at this location, thus it is known as Chamrara Devi – apbhransh (distorted in pronunciation, having the same meaning) of Charan Devi.

(He explains further – for example, Lakshamanpur with the passage of time becomes Lucknow)

There are no statues or मूर्ति पूजा (worship of idols) done here. Devotees worship the holy Pindi.

Asus (September-October) and Chaitra (March-April) – Navratri is the time for Mela (festival).

Baisakh (April) 10 gate is the month for the festival organized by nearby villagers. Mostly, 22 or 23 April each year is the festival date.

Views of the holy Ganga and National Highway 58 are visible far down below.

Nearby the temple is Pundori Village.

I question – How to reach Chamrara Devi temple via public transport?

Once you reach an intersection of Link Road connecting National Highway 58, you have to walk a little further on National Highway 58 to hire a jeep from Saudpani Village. Jeep hiring charges approx. Rs. 300 for one way, i.e., 8 km road route.

Another way to reach the temple is the trekking route, which is 3 km and is mostly used by local villagers. Devotees who do not have trekking experience or are not from the mountains may find the trekking route difficult. The best is the road route.

Landmark: Rajkiya Intermediate College, Munna Khal near the temple.

Fantastic. Thank you said I.

It was time for prayers, and we walked toward the temple to offer prayers.

Letter of Appreciation from French Traveler

Letter of Appreciation from French Traveler

Patrick – The French Traveler was in the Yoga class at Rishikesh (Uttarakhand). As I was leaving for the Maha Kumbh Mela 2013 at Allahabad (Uttar Pradesh), he requested to join. I reached Allahabad the day before the start of the Maha Kumbh Mela, and he reached the next day early in the morning and lost his luggage at the Maha Kumbh venue. Anyhow, I helped as much as I could and he reached safely to French Embassy in New Delhi.

The above letter of appreciation is sent by him appreciating India and its people.

Thank You, Patrick. Love you.

Welcome to India…

Royal Enfield Thunderbird Twinspark Swing Arm Bush Replacement for the First Time

Royal Enfield Thunderbird Twinspark Swing Arm Bush Replacement for the First Time

I have a habit of visiting Royal Enfield Service Centers on average once a month or sometimes twice to meet the head mechanic to check whether all is OK with the motorbike or not. This time I was at Rishikesh (Uttarakhand).

After driving for a few km, the head mechanic suggested that you should change the Swing Arm Bush. They are old now and are not in a proper condition, which is why there is wobbling while driving, and if you do not change wobbling will increase further.

OK – said I.

After a few days, I again visited Friends Enfield house (Vicky bike zone), Koyal Ghati, Haridwar Road in Rishikesh – The service center, and requested the owner of the center to test the bike whether all was OK or not.

Again, the reply was the same to change the bush as there is wobbling while driving. And he also suggested changing the brake shoes.

What if I do not change the bush for a long time? – I question.

It will slowly and slowly damage your motorbike chain sprocket teeth, and maybe while driving chain will break if wobbling is too much.

OK – said I.

And I requested him to change both the swing Arm Bush as well as Brake Shoes.

(Older damaged Swing Arm Bush and the brand-new ones shown in the picture)

While replacing, I question: Why is there a difference between the older damaged Swing Arm Bush and the brand-new ones?

He said: Older ones or the ones that are with brand-new motorcycles are with plastics, but trust I am replacing the best for you.

During the replacement, he also suggested replacing the Rear Brake Shoes Cam as it is worn now.

OK – said I.

The cost:

Swing Arm Bush: Rs. 145

(also known as Rear Jhula Bush)

Rear Brake Shoes: Rs. 260

Rear Brake Shoe Cam: Rs. 94

Labour Charges: Rs. 300

Grand Total: Rs. 799/-

And Rs. 700 I paid plus Rs. 50 to wielder for fixing Bush. Total Rs. 750/-

But what the best about the Royal Enfield Thunderbird Twinspark motorbike is:

It is more than 3 years and 6 months old, more than 28,000 km driven, and it was the first Swing Arm Bush and Rear Brake Shoes Cam replacement.

Rear Brake Shoes, I replaced earlier too.

I am happy now as wobbling is no longer there while driving. Hope the cost is OK. Thank you – said I.
