Distance from Rewalsar to Various Cities

Rewalsar to Dharamsala distance is 154 km approx.

I started solo from Rewalsar by Royal Enfield Thunderbird Twinspark motorbike via National Highway 20 and reached Dharamsala in 5 hours 30 minutes.

It was the rainy season and few places there were landslides.

Maybe if no rain then from Rewalsar to Dharamshala 5 hours will be the total journey hours.

Rewalsar to Manali distance is 135 km approx.

About: 7 The Best Restaurants in around Rishikesh

Omkarananda Ganga Sadan as per personal experience serves one of the best thalis in Rishikesh.

Omkarananda Ganga Sadan is an ashram near a taxi stand, Muni-ki-Reti very close to Ram Jhula also famous for Yoga classes conducted by Usha Devi but at the same time, very less people know they have a dining hall in the basement and provide one of the best vegetarian thalis in Rishikesh. The food served is made without adding onion and garlic. Charges Rs. 100 per thali. You have to order for the thali in advance a few hours before lunch or dinner. The restaurant opens at 8 am and closes at 8 night. Sunday it is closed by early evening hours. The best about this dining hall is the simplicity of the food and the cleanliness all around. Breakfast is available. In short, it is a restaurant serving almost like homemade food.

Madras Cafe, Muni-ki-Reti another restaurant is nearby Omkarananda Ganga Sadan. Once I had idli sambar and another day I had the vegetarian thali but for sure I liked idli sambar the most. It was really very very tasty. Rs. 50 is the cost if I remember correctly.

Mount Valley Mama Cottage needs no introduction. It is famous for being one of the best budget accommodations as well as one of the best vegetarian thalis offered by Mama. Tourists from all parts of the world staying within Mama Cottage as well as nearby guest houses can be seen sitting on the open verandah at night having the thali. Tapovan (Laxman Jhula), Shivananda Nagar-The address, Thali-Rs. 50.

Other than the above two one day for a change I visited Honey Hut recently opened cafe famous for honey-based eatables. I had Honey Cappuccino, Veg. Cheese Burger and Grill Cheese Paneer Sandwich. I paid Rs. 175/-. The atmosphere is cozy and clean and of course, honey products are good for health. The cafe is very close to National Highway 58 on the road toward Laxman Jhula or you can say not too far from Laxman Jhula. This cafe is also an option if you think of a change.

German Bakery and Restaurant nearby Laxman Jhula is the best. Best because of the view along with food. I had Mixed Vegetable Chowmein and a cup of hot Nescafe coffee – delicious it was. One of the best restaurants where I feel completely relaxed while having food.

Close to German Bakery approx. 100 meters is Ramana’s Organic Cafe. The best cafe with complete silence and a good view. I few times visited for two reasons. 1. Food is prepared with their own organically grown vegetables and 2. I can watch birds of Uttarakhand if I am on the rooftop.

Another best restaurant is Ayurpak not too far from Ramana’s Organic Cafe. Recently during the visit what I find the best was the ambiance and the quality of food served and prepared by the owners. I had one Cheese Paratha and one Aaloo Cheese Paratha. It was almost like home or I can say homemade food. Rs. 80 is the price of each paratha and then I had one Masala Chai (tea) which was fantastic. Rs. 30/- for the tea. I was happy I found another good restaurant. I am thinking of having ‘Khichdi‘ during my next visit.

In short, these seven restaurants are favorites in Rishikesh.

About: 7 The Best Restaurants in and around Paharganj

About: 7 The Best Restaurants in and around Paharganj

During a recent visit to New Delhi, I decided to stay in and around Paharganj opposite the New Delhi Railway Station. Main Bazaar and Arakashan Road were two major choices, and I selected Main Bazaar.

Morning hours I was hungry and in search of breakfast, though the hotel I was staying in had room service for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, I skipped it. I visited a rooftop restaurant, Club India Cafe & Restaurant, Main Bazaar, Paharganj.

As per query, they said they are open from 8 mornings till 10:30 at night, and as per the menu, they serve Indian, Continental, Chinese, Japanese, Israeli, Tibetan food, and many more. I request about their breakfast specialty. American Breakfast was the reply. I order.

Yes, breakfast was nice and the view of Paharganj – was lovely. I paid Rs. 135/-. This restaurant is one of the suggestions if you are not having issues with the roof-top restaurant because it is on the 3rd floor though they have another restaurant on the 2nd floor, that is not a garden.

Afternoon hours, I inquire with the hotel reception to suggest a restaurant for lunch. He said: Vegetarian or Non-Vegetarian. I said Vegetarian. Tadka was the recommendation.

Tadka is nearby Club India Cafe & Restaurant. The major difference is Club India Cafe & Restaurant is on the top floor with a garden and Tadka is on the ground floor air-conditioned. It opens at 12 afternoons and closes by 10:30 at night and serves Indian food as well as burgers, pizza, sandwiches, Macaroni, Pasta, Lasagna, Thali, Chinese, Beverages, and Porridge, etc., etc. I order Kadai Panner, Tandoori Roti with butter on top, and a cup of Hot Chocolate. Rs. 180/- I paid. Paintings on the wall quotes written, owner caring, food less spicy though the order was spicy Kadai Paneer. This will be another suggestion if you are a vegetarian.

And I want to mention Nirulas, N Block, Outer Circle, and Connaught Place for non-vegetarians as well as vegetarians. The next day for lunch I had a visit at Nirulas and ordered Non-Veg. Thali. Rs. 169 I paid. Food quality-excellent and service time is quick.

And for dinner, Cafe Nirvana, Main Bazaar, Paharganj. They serve Italian, Indian, English/French Breakfast, Continental, Muesli, Spaghetti, Nepali Thali, and more. Open from 8 am to 10:30 pm. Cheese Roasted Garlic Bread Salad, one Egg Noodles, One milk coffee, and I mineral water I ordered. And not to forget, they play music live by a small energetic musical band between 7:30-10:30 at night. Rs. 245 I paid. The best thing about them is they are on the first floor and if you sit close to the balcony, you can watch Paharganj street always busy.

In short, suggestions are for Club India Cafe & Restaurant, Tadka, and Cafe Nirvana. All three are within 200 meters of each other and if not, these suggestions little away from Paharganj approx. 1 km away, what better than visiting the Connaught Place area. Nirulas, Haldiram, Cafe Coffee Day, Costa, street food, and plenty of options at Connaught Place outer as well as the inner circle. Saravana Bhawan at Connaught Place is another very good one. I saw a queue waiting. Maybe next time.

When I visit a restaurant, I prefer the location, ambiance, cleanliness, food presentation, quality of food, less spicy, not expensive, quick and caring service, and I found all such within the above-suggested restaurant. And many times if a restaurant is very old, serving happy customers for long long years I just enter to have food. What do you prefer?
