Water Chakki

This photo was taken nearby Prashar Khad, Nandli village, Mandi, Himachal Pradesh.

The force of water rotates the wheel connected with grindstone. All you have to do is to add pulses, cereals etc and grindstone does its job. Thank you Manoj for enhancing knowledge.

Plum Fruit Tree

Plum Fruit Tree

During visit to Prashar Lake I opt for home-stay at Nandli village – 18 km from Mandi town (Mandi – Prashar road). Opposite home stay after crossing Prashar khad is plantation of Plum trees. I along with Manoj – caretaker of homestay and another village person reached plantation area and had few plum direct from trees. Though most of the plum are plucked by the owner but still few left and we had a good time. It was too tasty. I wish little salt was available it would be heaven almost.

Jhol - Traditional Drink of Mandi (Himachal Pradesh)

During visit to Prashar lake 48 km from Mandi town I preferred homestay at Nandli village – 18 km from Mandi town (Mandi -  Prashar road). Upon request for Himachal Pradesh traditional food the lady of the house serve and enhance knowledge about a special traditional drink of Mandi district known as ‘Jhol‘.

Jhol is always a part of cuisine served during marriages specially in Mandi district. It is prepared by boiling lassi and adding tadka/Chaunk (containing ghee, coriander seeds/leaves, green chili, salt).

She said many prefer to drink Jhol via glass instead of bowl.

It was very very tasty. Thanks for the preparation – said I.
