IRCTC Executive Lounge, New Delhi Railway Station – The very first experience.
I reached New Delhi Railway Station from Chandigarh via JAN SHATABDI EXP (12058) at 11:45 am.
My next train was CSMT RAJDHANI (22222) at 4:55 pm from H NIZAMUDDIN Railway Station.
I thought of resting for 2 hours in the retiring room (the first time) at New Delhi Railway Station.
The retiring room at New Delhi Railway Station (Paharganj side) is above Platform No. 1.
I enquired about the dormitory availability but was suggested by the present railway employee that it can be booked only via online.
I requested my sister to check online whether the dormitory is available or not.
I was told – it is not available.
What to do next?
As I was about to approach the stairs I saw a board mentioning the IRCTC Executive Lounge on the same 1st floor of the retiring room.
I walked in (the first time). I approached the person present at the reception and enquired about the 2-hour rates which were as follows:
- Lounge Entry Charge – 1 Hour – Rs. 190 per person.
- Extra Hours – 1 Hour – Rs. 130 per person.
Done.
I was requested to submit an Aadhaar Card as identity proof.
Submitted.
The service was lightning-fast. The staff was courteous and polite. Within minutes I was given the bill which was Rs. 320 (including CGST 6% and SGST 6%) and a pamphlet mentioning IRCTC Executive Lounge services and rates as follows:
- Deluxe Resting Suite – 2 Hours – Rs. 670 per person.
- Extra Hours – 1 Hour – Rs. 280 per person.
There were 4 different Lounge Packages available too for per person starting price from Rs. 420 till Rs. 1100.
I found the IRCTC Executive Lounge safe (CCTVs are installed), less crowded and the seating was very comfortable – the best for resting and relaxing. Cleanliness all around was excellent. Much better than the waiting room at the platform.
Recliners, Buffet & Ala Carte (charges extra), Shower Room (Rs. 280 per person), TV, Wifi, Newspaper, and Mobile Charging Point were there.
I visited the toilet and found it sparkling clean with zero dirty smell.
IRCTC Executive Lounge – A perfect place for resting and having breakfast/lunch/dinner too.
The experience was amazing. I loved the idea of having such a lounge at a railway station. A great initiative by IRCTC.
Affordable prices, hygienic bathrooms, and cleanliness at par, all under one roof. It’s worth all the money.
This IRCTC Executive Lounge is a must-visit for anyone who wants to freshen up, have a bath, or have a few hours of rest.
Open 24×7. Almost 3-star – Definitely recommended. Keep the good work going. Hope the review helps.
At present, the IRCTC Executive Lounge is being operated at Agra, Jaipur, Sealdah, Madurai, and Ahmedabad other than New Delhi Railway Station Platform-1 and Platform-16.
Any bona fide Railway passenger can rest at the IRCTC Executive Lounge.
These lounges really enhanced passenger’s rail travel experience. Literally a hidden gem.
A suggestion: Passengers should open their shoes outside the entry door just like Godawari AC Waiting Hall at Nashik Road Station.
