It is believed that the ‘Borivali‘ comes from the existence of many bushes of a sweet fruit called ‘Borr’ which means berries. Hence, the town of berries is literally ‘Bori-vali’.

Today, it is a natural paradise even after being populated densely with a large segment of the business community, due to the presence of the Sanjay Gandhi National Park and the mangrove forests.

बोरीवली नाम में घुली है मिठास। ऐसी मान्यता है कि यहां पाई जानेवाली झाड़ियों में बोर्र नाम का फल लगता है जिसे अंग्रेजी में बेरी कहते हैं और उसके का नाम पड़ गया बोरी-वली।

मौजुदा मुंबई में घनी आबादी के बावजूद ये जगह किसी स्वर्ग से कम नहीं है। मैंग्रोव के घने जंगल और संजय गांधी राष्ट्रीय उद्यान यहां की संपदा है।
