Band Stand

Now a restaurant, this conical slate-roofed structure on wooden posts, was presented to the people of Shimla as a Band Stand by Kanwar Jiwan Das of Jabalpur in 1907. The gift was welcomed, for as the towns’s largest open space the Ridge that faces this, was also the place where every major event under colonial rule – especially the King’s Birthday – was celebrated with parades and bands.

बैंड स्टैंड

अब एक रेस्तरां, लकड़ी के खंभों पर यह शंक्वाकार स्लेट-छत वाली संरचना, 1907 में जबलपुर के कंवर जीवन दास द्वारा शिमला के लोगों को एक बैंड स्टैंड के रूप में प्रस्तुत की गई थी। इस उपहार का स्वागत किया गया था, क्योंकि शहर का सबसे बड़ा खुला स्थान रिज के सामने था। यह वह स्थान भी था जहां औपनिवेशिक शासन के तहत हर प्रमुख कार्यक्रम – विशेष रूप से राजा का जन्मदिन – परेड और बैंड के साथ मनाया जाता था।
