Kanak Chauri village (starting point for Kartik Swami Temple trek) is approx. 38 km from Rudraprayag town. After reaching the village one has to trek approx. 2 km via dense jungle to reach the temple situated at an altitude of 3048 meters.

Twice I did trekking. One during evening hours and the second time early at 4:30 am to watch the sunrise.

Trekking time depends upon one’s fitness level  – 40 minutes to one hour approx.
