Famous/Popular Tourist Places in Nagpur – Bablu, An Auto-Rickshaw Driver Showed Us in One Day

During talks with my cousin, I expressed my wish to tour famous/popular tourist places in Nagpur.

At Nagpur, I stayed at my cousin’s house at Friends Colony.

But how? The mode of travel? – questioned my sister-in-law.

Local transport like bus and auto – said I.

She said it would be difficult because you know little about the city road routes. Let me arrange an auto for you which will be fully booked by you and will take you to all the famous/popular tourist places in Nagpur.

Wonderful – said I.

Within minutes Bablu – an auto wala was present at our cousin’s flat.

How much for the full-day Nagpur tour questioned my sister-in-law to Autowala.

Whatever you wish will be ok – said the autorwala.

No No – I intervened. Tell us the exact amount you wish to earn.

Rs. 1,200 – said he.

1,000 – said I.

Bablu agreed and within minutes we were on a Nagpur tour via auto rickshaw.

Below are the famous/popular tourist places in Nagpur Bablu showed us:

  1. Telangkhedi Hanuman Mandir is situated at Seminary Hills. Approx. 50+ stairs one has to climb to reach the temple.
  2. Dolly-ki-Tapri where Bill Gates recently visited and had tea. We too had tea. Rs. 40 for 3 glasses of tea.
  3. Maharaj Bagh Zoo – I found the Cannon Ball Tree at the entrance of the zoo and the tiger resting – the best. Ticket Charges: Rs. 40 for Adults and Rs. 20 for Children.
  4. Zero Mile Stone – It was under repair thus, unable to visit closely.
  5. Opposite Zero Mile Stone is Adivasi Gowari Shaheed Smarak. Visited.
  6. Zero Mile Freedom Park was near Adivasi Gowari Shaheed Smarak. Visited and read About: Construction of Nagpur City, About: Sitabuldi Fort – Built in 1702, About: ZERO MILE PILLAR AT NAGPUR – ESTD. 1907 and a few more such information.
  7. Shri Ganesh Mandir, Tekdi – Had blessings of Lord Ganesha.
  8. Narrow Gauge Rail Museum
  9. Shree Mahalaxmi Jagdamba Mata Mandir also known as Koradi Devi temple.

What we missed was Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s Sanskritik Kendra (Monday closed) which is just behind the Koradi Devi Temple.

Anyway, the visit to popular/famous tourist places in Nagpur took the whole day.

Our last stop was at Haldiram’s at Friends Colony where we had Chole-Bhature.

Cost: 239 rupees for 3 Bhature & Chole and Rs. 80 for 2 Thums Up 300 ml.

Finally, Bablu dropped me at a salon in a Friends Colony. I had to shave my beard.

I was happy with Bablu’s knowledge of the popular/famous tourist places in Nagpur. Rs. 1,000 paid. Thank you – said I.
