About: Kasturba Gandhi & Mahadev Dasai Memorial

During the ‘Quit India Movement‘ in India’s freedom struggle, Mahatma Gandhi, his wife Kasturba Gandhi and secretary Mahadev Dasai, and others were imprisoned in the Aga Khan Palace for two years. Mahadev Dasai died of a heart attack on 15 August 1942 during detention, and Kasturba later died on 22 February 1944. Their mortal remains were enshrined here at Aga Khan Palace.
