During visit to Prashar lake 48 km from Mandi town I preferred homestay at Nandli village – 18 km from Mandi town (Mandi -Â Prashar road). Upon request for Himachal Pradesh traditional food the lady of the house serve and enhance knowledge about a special traditional drink of Mandi district known as ‘Jhol‘.
Jhol is always a part of cuisine served during marriages specially in Mandi district. It is prepared by boiling lassi and adding tadka/Chaunk (containing ghee, coriander seeds/leaves, green chili, salt).
She said many prefer to drink Jhol via glass instead of bowl.
