Jhol - Traditional Drink of Mandi (Himachal Pradesh)

During visit to Prashar Lake 48 km from Mandi Town I preferred Homestay at Nandli village – 18 km from Mandi Town (Mandi – Prashar Road). Upon the request for Himachal Pradesh traditional food the lady of the house serve and enhance knowledge about a special traditional drink of Mandi district known as ‘Jhol‘.

Jhol is always a part of cuisine served during marriages specially in Mandi district. It is prepared by boiling lassi and adding tadka/Chaunk (containing ghee, coriander seeds/leaves, green chili, salt).

She said many preferred to drink Jhol via glass instead of bowl.

It was very very tasty. Thanks for the preparation – said I.
