Shobha Yatra also known as Manglacharan

Aarti Sthal, Keshi Ghat, Vrindavan – The location.

( Keshi Ghat – During Dwapar yug Lord Krishna killed Keshi – The demon at this location thus the location is named as Keshi Ghat. Bharatpur queen Laxmi Devi helped to construct the ghat for devotees to pray and bath. It is a fine example of Indian and Mughal architecture )

Family and friends gathering to pray Goddess Yamuna with the guidance of Acharya Shri Krishna Kinkar ji maharaj, Ram Krishna Achraya ji for the success of 84 kos yatra. Flowers, Clothes, Dravya offered to Goddess Yamuna while chanting Shlokas and finally we walked towards home with Band Baja singing bhajans and kirtan. But the question:

Why Shobha Yatra is organized ?

Shobha Yatra is also known as Manglacharan. We pray local God/Goddess to wish us success for our upcoming Braj Chaurasi Kos Yatra as no hurdles visit during the tour. Even during any auspicious occasion Manglacharan is done. Within Vrindavan there are more than 5500 temples. We offer prayers to each and every temple, God, Goddess including Yamuna river for the success of auspicious tour.

Manglacharan is of three types:

1. Vaidik Manglacharan

- which we did in-front of river Yamuna

2. Laukik Manglacharan

- which was done by chanting shlokas

3. Sangitik Manglacharan

- which was done by singing bhajan and kirtan

Now another question:

If you watch the video women carrying nariyal (coconut) along with Kalash on top of their head why so ?

As kalash resemble Varun God ( Jal devta ) and devta ( God ) reside within the same with his entire family and by adding nariyal on top of Kalash complete it as a shed over a house and is also known as Purnapatra.

Very useful information. Very knowlegable – said I. Thanks to friends associated with the Yatra for enhancing knowledge.
