How much I Paid Per Day for Scooter Hire in Virupapur Gaddi (another side of Hampi across the Tungabhadra River)?

Srinivas Scooter Hire Service in Virupapur Gaddi (Hampi), Karnataka, India

First day at Virupapur Gaddi (another side of Hampi across the Tungabhadra River) around the afternoon hours we hired bicycles for half-day for Rs. 50/- only but soon we realized we needed the machine for the next coming days. On the second day, we started enquiring about scooter hire charges. Finally, we finalized Srinivas Scooter Hire Service outside Funky Monkey Restaurant.

TVS Scooty was the choice. Rs. 250/- (excluding petrol) for 24 hours after the bargain. We kept the scooter at our guest house even at night.

(Petrol station is approx. 6 km from Virupapur Gaddi opposite the entrance of Anegundi Village)

TVS Scooty was perfect except once during returning from Hospet the vehicle broke down near Bandi Harlapur but soon we found a two-wheeler service shop. Saleem – The owner cleans the carburetor and also fixed the loose battery wire. He charged Rs. 50/- for the service.

Please note: Hire scooter entry is not allowed at Hampi. One has to hire a bicycle or auto for the Hampi tour.

The advantage of a scooter hire in Virupapur Gaddi is – You may ride to Sanapur Lake, Waterfall, Anjana Hill, Anegundi Village, and many more tourist locations which are nearby except entry at Hampi.

In short, thoroughly enjoyed TVS Scooty. The best way to ride around Virupapur Gaddi.

An Indian Coracle on Tungabhadra River

An Indian Coracle on Tungabhadra River at Hampi in Karnataka, India

It was late evening hours and dark. No motorboat was crossing the Tungabhadra River from the Hampi side to Virupapur Gaddi. A coracle is the only option and the fare is Rs. 50/- per person. Costly? What to do? No other option. Paid. Initially, it feels the fare is costly as per distance covered but once you enter the Indian Coracle boat and the journey continues it is an experience one should love to have. Thoroughly enjoyed.

A coracle is also known as Gampa or Putti in Telugu/Kannada languages.

Knowledge is enhanced by a local person.

Thank you.

FYI: Generally to cross the Tungabhadra River either from Hampi to Virupapur Gaddi or vice versa motorboat fare is Rs. 10/- per person no matter Indian or Foreigner. Two-wheeler if personal you may cross it via motorboat. Rs. 10 for the small vehicle, Rs. 15 for Hero Honda, and for Bullet – Rs. 20 per vehicle.

Note: Hired motor vehicles are not allowed to cross from Virupapur Gaddi to Hampi.

New Annapurna Andhra Meals – One of The Best Restaurant in Hospet for Budget Travelers

New Annapurna Andhra Bhojanalaya near JSW Vijayanagar Bus Terminal, Hospet, Karnataka, India

Afternoon hours I was at the backside of the JSW Vijayanagar Bus Terminal building in Hospet and was very hungry. Where to eat was the question though there were many restaurants in Hospet. I inquired with a local shopkeeper.

He questioned: What type of food do you wish to have? North Indian Thali or Traditional?

I said – Traditional.

New Annapurna Andhra Bhojanalaya one of the best restaurants in Hospet, was the recommendation. Thank you – said I.

Five minutes walk we saw New Annapurna Andhra Bhojanalaya on the left side of the road.

We enter. Payment at the counter and a token in return.

No seats. For a few minutes, we have to wait. We saw people having food served on top of a Plantain leaf commonly known as a banana leaf. It was our first experience. Soon we had our seats. One food serving guy requested for token. Provided.

A banana leaf was placed on the top of the table and then a little water was used to clean it. Food was served one by one. The moment I tasted the conclusion – extraordinary. It is Andhra food, and I was loving it. Unlimited it was.

And do you know how much it costs?

Rs. 50/- only and for half – Rs. 40/-.

Timings: 12 – 4 noon / 7:30 pm – 9:30 pm.

One should try traditional food. At least I prefer it though many times I do not remember served food names or what locally it is named what matters most is the deliciousness, variety, and tradition associated with it.

Andhra food is one of the favorites now-onwards for sure. Thank you, guys, that’s all I can say.

My Cheapest Travel to Hampi from Hospet Railway Station

Hospet Railway Station to Hampi by Bus

Hubli Tirupati Fast Passenger reached Hospet railway station at 10 morning hours. And the question – How to reach Hampi from Hospet Railway Station (though autos were there outside the station)?

Actually, in reality, the question should be – How to reach *Virupapur Gaddi from Hospet Railway Station?

I saw a bus parked on the left side.

I enquire – where it is going?

The bus conductor said – It is going to JSW Vijayanagar Bus Terminal, Hospet. Where do you want to go?

I said – Hampi.

Please board as you will get another bus for Hampi from the bus terminal.

WoW. Thank you said I. With luggage, I was on the bus.

FYI: Hampi is 14 km from Hospet Railway Station.

Rs. 5 bus fare I paid and within minutes maybe after traveling 2 km approx. I reached JSW Vijayanagar Bus Terminal. The bus conductor directed toward another bus that was going to Hampi. Thank you said I.

Rs. 15/- bus fare from JSW Vijayanagar Bus terminal to Hampi. Nice smooth 30 minutes approx. journey.

How much total amount do I pay from Hospet Railway Station to Hampi by bus?

Rs. 20/- only including luggage. Wow. That is cheap for traveling approx. 14 km by bus but please note during night hours the possibility of bus service is almost zero. Auto is another option to reach Hampi or vice versa.

(If the bus is not parked outside Railway Station sharing autos are available for the bus terminal for Rs. 10/-per passenger)

While returning from Hampi to Hospet Railway Station, I booked an entire auto and paid Rs. 200/- as I was getting late.

Isn’t it cheap to travel via bus? It is especially if the journey is via government bus – I prefer.

* Virupapur Gaddi is another side of Hampi across the Tungabhadra River and to reach Hospet via Hampi is the shortest route – only 14 km. Otherwise, one has to travel approx. 40 km via Munirabad > Shivpur Cross which is time-consuming and costly too.
